OSIEM PALACE
A Palace is a grand residence, especially a royal or a dignitary residence, or the home of a head of state. The official residence of a chief, queen, or other royal sovereign or exalted personage is term or seen as a palace. In Ghana, chiefs, queens and royal families are rulers of the communities. Chiefs are given the utmost level of respect. As determined earlier, a chief with his royal family resides in the palace where various meetings are also held for the development of the community. Also some palaces serves as hosts to their respective Traditional Councils as established by Law. In such cases, the Omanhene or Paramount chief who doubles as the President of the Council uses the Palace for only official purposes thus administration and receiving or hosting highly ranked Visitors or Officials.
A survey made by modernghana.com indicates that the Eastern Region currently due to the fast expansion of the region proudly can boast of a total of 2,106,696 population for the region, representing 11.1 percent of Ghana's population. Before that, there are a lot of communities under the eastern region and it includes Akim Tafo, Apedwa, Bunso, New Tafo, Nkronso, Old Tafo, Osiem, Kibi and many more. This feature will be concentrating on the Osiem community mainly. Osiem has a population of about 6544 people as at the population year of 2017.
Osiem is a historic town in the history of Akyem Abuakwa and is strategically located geographically, economically, and socially.

The chiefs are divided by the act of leadership into 5 categories they include; the Asantehene and Paramount Chiefs, Divisional Chiefs, Sub-divisional Chiefs, Adikrofo, and such other Chiefs not falling within any of the preceding categories as are recognized by the Regional House of Chiefs.
Osiem is a village located in the district of eastern region which is still under development with support from all aspect of governmental and non-governmental organization in collaboration with the chief and his elders. The picture depicts an in-depth of how the community looks like.
In Osiem the chief who happens to be a Divisional Chief is referred to as Osabarima Agyei Mireku II (Osiem Hene) with a whole lot of responsibilities on his shoulder to carry out for comfort of his people. Development of the Osiem community lies in his able wisdom and assistance from various individuals or organization but mainly his elders in council. The king and his council below are also depicted.
The role of palace and cultures play an inevitable role in the development of its people thus an unavoidable situation and it has become a must of every community to adhere to. The palace mostly are the first respondent of issues that are supposed to be handled at the law court. Eventually the issues are dealt with and both parties agree due to the respect of culture and wisdom of the king. Note that before independence of Ghana, the courts were the palace. The Chief of Osiem in the Akyem Abuakwa part of the Eastern Region has embarked upon a patriotic venture worthy of emulation by not only his colleague traditional leaders but also citizens who have the country at heart. Even though Ghana is seen as a religious country precisely Christians many of our Chiefs believe in the might of small gods, Osabarima Agyei Mireku II (Osiem Hene) isn’t part of such chiefs but rather boost of being a Chief appointed by God.
Every chief has a responsibility to undertake and they must be guided to take the right measures to help the development of their community and at large the country of Ghana. Before this can be achieved every individual in the community must aid to adhere to the rules and regulations of the country, community and every other related issues so as to be able to run a smooth and developing community.
